Special Educational Needs and Disabilities

Children with special educational needs or a disability may need extra help and support to make the most of educational and learning opportunities. Our local offer sets out what support and help is available for your child or young person if they have special educational needs or a disability.
Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is a support system for children and young adults up to the age of 25, who are still in education or training and need assistance with their ability to learn. For example, they may have difficulties with behaviour or socialising, reading or writing, they may struggle to concentrate or understand, or they may have physical disabilities.
If you think your child may have special educational needs, you may be eligible for support to help their ability to learn.


SEN Support

SEN Support is a budget used by a school for child with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The budget allows the school to set up a plan specifically to suit a child's needs and is reviewed regularly to see if it is supporting the child's progression.

Dudley Disability Service (DDS)

The Dudley Disability Service is a joined up service supporting children, young people and adults in the Dudley borough with special educational needs, learning or physical disabilities, or autism to help them achieve a full and happy life.

Support after Leaving School

We can help you to make important decisions about your future including finding a job or college course, where to live, healthcare, and help to become part of a community and make friends.
