Home Safety Centre
If you need a Safe and Well please call and the Operators, after taking the details, we will discuss the options available to you. We are now undertaking face to face visits but we can also offer a remote (via phone etc) Safe and Well, giving advice/support and offering a visit when it is safe to do so.
We help people in the community to reduce their risk to fire by carrying out a Safe and Well check - that will provide two services.
1. To check smoke alarms or fit one, ensure extension leads and adaptors are being used correctly, help you plan an escape route in the event of a fire, help you to reduce your risk to fire.
2. Offer help, support or refer to other partners if any problems or issues are raised concerning the individuals wellbeing with regard to
- mobility and falls,
- mental health, memory loss and dementia,
- loneliness and social isolation,
- smoking, alcohol, medication and drugs,
- hoarding,
- employment,
- road safety,
- home security.
Bed or chair dependent, use oxygen or smoke in bed? We have a number of fire retardant products that could be used to reduce the risk to the individual.
The fire service also have a number of officers who have had additional training to assist or signpost vulnerable people to help and support to other services.

It can be a referral from an organisation or for yourself/ family member. Contact will be made by the Home Safety centre and an appointment will be booked with a local station at a time and date to suit.
