Financial Advice
We are a UK charity supporting people with their tax. Do you have a tax problem that you don’t understand? Are you unable to afford to pay for tax advice? We can support you through your personal tax problems with free, expert, and confidential support. If you are over 60 and have a tax problem our sister charity Tax Help for Older People can support you.
We can help with any personal tax problem. For example:
Understanding HMRC’s letters, bills or statements
- Tax debt
- A dispute with HMRC
- Completing tax forms
- PAYE code and errors
- Self Assessment
- Other personal tax issues
Please note: TaxAid does not advise on any DWP benefits (including Tax Credits), council tax, or Limited Companies. TaxAid does not provide tax planning advice, but our advisers can provide guidance on making good tax decisions.
The aim of our charity is to provide tax help to all who need it. We believe that tax advice can vastly improve the financial burdens of anyone, so it should not be available only to those who can afford it. Often, it is those who cannot afford paid tax advice who will benefit the most from it. Because the tax system is so complicated, it can cause a huge amount of stress and anxiety to be met with a large tax demand or letters that you do not understand. We are here to bridge the gap of understanding and offer a helping hand.
Our service is nationwide. You can receive tax support by phoning our helpline, we are open Monday-Friday from 9.00am-5.00pm except for bank holidays. You can also use the contact form on our website, though please note it can take up to 14 working days to get a response, for urgent enquiries please use our helpline.
