We are a UK charity for people over 60 on lower incomes who need support with their tax. If you are under 60 and require tax help then our partner charity TaxAid may be able to help. Have you received a tax letter that you do not understand? Are you unsure whether your tax is correct? Are you struggling with tax surrounding your pension?

If you answer yes to any of the above, or have any other personal tax issue, then we can help you. Our charity provides free, expert, and confidential tax help to people who cannot afford paid advice.

We will work with you on your tax problem, and help you work with HMRC to resolve. Our dedicated and expert tax advisers will listen to you and help you every step of the way. Our service specialises in helping people over 60 dealing with tax issues that can arise as you retire or plan to retire. for this age group.

We can help you with:

  • Personal tax queries
  • Tax issues surrounding pensions, pension lump sums, etc
  • Tax issues following bereavement
  • PAYE coding checks
  • Self-assessment issues
  • Form filing
  • Understanding letters from HMRC
  • Understanding allowances, such as marriage allowance

It may be that you simply need some reassurance and peace of mind. We are here to support you with your tax problem, no matter how big or small.

Our service is Nationwide. You can receive tax support by phoning our helpline, we are open Monday-Friday from 9.00am-5.00pm except for bank holidays. You can also use the contact form on our website, though please note it can take up to 14 working days to get a response, for urgent enquiries please use our helpline.

Eligibility Notes:

Eligibility is: earning approximately £20,000 annually (before tax), or people on higher income:

  • with debt more than 25% of their annual income, or
  • if experiencing other hardships or disadvantages such as (but not limited to) mental or physical health problems, disabilities, domestic violence, bereavement, or homelessness.
