Course Overview

  • Course Title: Making Music with your Guitar (Improvers Level).

  • Start Date: Thursday, 24 September 2026.

  • Weekly Schedule: Every Thursday evening from 7.15pm-9.15pm.

  • Course Duration: 10 weeks (Full term commitment).

  • Total Tuition Fee: £100.00.

About the Course Philosophy The core objective of this unique, open-ended course is to guide you toward true musical independence. We focus heavily on helping you build a rich, personal repertoire of songs that you can play instinctively. The goal is to completely free you from the restriction of reading constantly from song sheets or formal music notation, allowing you to connect directly with your instrument and your audience.

Is this course right for you? This class is designed to be highly inclusive and accommodates a wide variety of intermediate playing levels. The only foundational requirement is that you can transition relatively smoothly between a few basic major and minor chords.

Note: We understand that assessing your own ability can be tricky. If you are unsure whether your current skills match the group, please let us know. Our tutor is more than happy to contact you directly for a friendly, informal chat prior to registration to ensure you feel completely comfortable.

A Tailored Group Environment Although you will be learning and collaborating within a group setting, the curriculum is uniquely structured so you can adapt it to your personal aspirations:

  • The Casual Player: If your goal is simply to play for your own enjoyment at home, you can relax, unwind, and focus on learning simplified, accessible versions of classic tracks.

  • The Ambitious Player: If you are seeking a genuine musical challenge, the tutor will push your boundaries. You will dive deeply into complex arrangements, advanced chord voicing, scales, modes, and practical music theory.

Thanks to this flexible design, our course has a proven track record of helping bedroom players bridge the gap to public performance, building the inner confidence needed to step out under the lights.

Equipment Needed Please ensure you bring the following items along to each weekly session:

  • Your Instrument: A 6-string acoustic guitar (steel-string or classical nylon-string).

  • Accessories: A variety of plectrums (picks), and a guitar capo.

  • Learning Materials: A dedicated A4 notebook or folder to organise chord diagrams, arrangement notes, and handouts.
