The Signature Level 3 curriculum transitions you from everyday conversation to intermediate and advanced linguistic proficiency.
Key Learning Modules
Advanced Linguistics & Structure: Master complex BSL grammar, including advanced role shift, placements, non-manual features (NMFs), and syntactic space.
Varied Social Interactions: Develop your expressive skills using humour, register variation, and formal versus informal signing styles.
Receptive and Productive Fluency: Learn to understand sustained, natural-speed signing, distinguish facts from opinions, and translate complex signed media.
Core Topics Explored: Expand your vocabulary across six mandatory themes: Education and Training, Employment, Home Life, Social/Recreational Activities, Consumer Issues, and Deaf History and Culture.
Official Signature Assessments
To achieve the full accredited Level 3 Certificate (RQF Qualification Reference: BSL33), you must pass all three external Signature assessments:
3ASS1 – Formal Presentation: Choose one of three topics provided by Signature and prepare an 8-10 minute presentation over 14 days to deliver live to your teacher.
3ASS2 – Informal Conversation: Engage in a fluid, interactive 10-12-minute discussion with your teacher following 30 minutes of collaborative preparation.
3ASS3 – Receptive Skills: Watch a filmed, natural-speed signed narrative and complete a corresponding written comprehension paper.
Course Delivery
Platform: Live online sessions via Zoom (instructions provided prior to start)
Time Commitment: Includes 150 guided learning hours alongside 100 hours of independent study and practice.
Community: Connect and learn with like-minded peers.
Prerequisite: BSL Level 2
Interview Requirement
All prospective students must complete an assessment with the tutor to ensure this advanced course is right for you.
Interview Fee: £50.00 (Non-refundable)
Course Discount: The £50.00 fee is deducted from your final tuition total upon successful enrolment.
Tuition and Payment Plans - The total price covers all teaching materials, live Zoom sessions, and Signature registration and examination fees.
