Dudley SENDIASS is a statutory service providing impartial information, support and advice to families of children and young people up to the age of 25 with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND). 

Throughout the year we have a range of events taking place which parents and young people can get involved in.

Each term Dudley SENDIASS hosts a range of workshops for parents of children with SEND and Young People with SEND (Special Educational Needs and/or Disability) to access. These workshops cover a range of topics and aim to provide information to enable you as a parent/carer or Young Person to be involved in.

All of our workshops are from 10am - 11.30am and delivered via MS Teams

An event hosted by Dudley SENDIASS for parents and young people with SEND.

These sessions will be an opportunity for parents and young people to hear from professionals within education, health and social care to gain an overview of the services provided and understand the referral pathways. Each session will enable you as a young person and parent to ask questions and be more informed about the services and support available for children and young people with SEND. 

Wednesday 6th March 2024 Reflexions Mental health support for children and young people in schools 10am – 12noon on MS Teams. 

  • This session will introduce parents and young people with SEND to Reflexions, a Mental Health Support Team (MHST) working with schools.
  • This session has been postponed from Wednesday 18th October 2023

This session will be an opportunity for parents to listen to a CAMHS specialist and gain an overview of the CAMHS services available and understand the referral pathway, enabling you to be more informed of the protocol in place when considering referring your child referred in to this service.

Post-16 Transition into Adulthood virtual sessions

Wednesday 27th January – Post 16 Educational Settings

This session is for Young People who are looking at continuing their education within formal settings and to understand how their SEND needs will be met.

10.00am - 11.00am

Staff from mainstream-colleges will be available to advise on how they can support you in the setting and meet your educational needs and/or disabilities, with or without an EHCP.

11.30am – 12.30pm

For those seeking more specialist educational settings, this session will have staff from specialist-Post-16 settings available to advise on how they will support you through your EHCP and what they have to offer.

Wednesday 3rd February – Employment and Post-16 Training Opportunities

Are you considering training or employment as your next step and need more information on how you will be supported?

In these virtual rooms will be a range of agencies and professionals that will support you as a Young Person with SEND to get job ready!

10.00am - 11.00am

Local Post-16 training providers will tell you about the opportunities that are available within the area and how they will support you throughout your training, with or without an EHCP.

11.30am – 12.30pm

Agencies will come together to offer you support and guidance when considering how you can access support in employment.

Wednesday 10th February – Making that transition into adulthood

These sessions will be showcasing the broad spectrum of specialist agencies that can offer Young People with SEND the support in making the transition into adulthood and being an active member of the community.

10.00am - 11.00am – Community Inclusion

This session will bring together a range of agencies and services that will support you in gaining the skill set and confidence to get involved locally.

11.30am – 12.30pm – Independent Living

This range of agencies may be able to support you as a Young Person with SEND to develop the skills needed to live independently.

1.00pm - 2.00pm - Health

In this session you will hear from agencies within the Mental health and physical healthcare sector who can work with Young People with SEND to ensure your holistic needs are supported.
