Supporting Children with SEND

Wren’s Nest has a long‑established reputation for high‑quality SEND provision. We recognise that every child’s journey is unique, and we tailor support to meet individual needs across cognition and learning, communication and interaction, social, emotional and mental health, and sensory or physical needs.

Our SEND support includes:

• Early identification and timely intervention.

• Personalised learning plans and targeted small‑group or 1:1 support.

• Accessible classrooms with visual supports, adaptive technology, and sensory‑friendly strategies.

• Specialist provision for hearing‑impaired pupils, including sound‑field systems and staff trained in Makaton.

• Enhanced transition support for children joining or moving through the school.

• Inclusive extracurricular and enrichment opportunities, ensuring all children can participate fully.

Early Years Admissions (Preschool, Nursery and Two‑Year‑Old Provision)

While admissions for Reception and above are managed by Dudley MBC, Wren’s Nest Primary School oversees admissions for our Preschool, Nursery and Two‑Year‑Old provision. Our early years settings offer a nurturing, language‑rich environment with strong SEND support from the very start of a child’s learning journey.

We welcome children with a wide range of needs and work closely with families to ensure smooth transitions, tailored support, and early intervention where required.
