Keeping warm, at home is really important as cold weather can make some health problems worse, especially if you are in a vulnerable group 65 or older or if you have any long-term health conditions. There is a clear link between a cold home and poor health. As fuel bills continue to rise, we all need to focus on keeping warm at home, whilst making sure we are keeping costs down and not wasting energy.

The council’s Dudley Energy Advice Line (DEAL) offers information, advice and support and is available to all households across Dudley borough. If you or anyone you know is struggling to keep their home warm then contact the helpline. Friendly staff there can:

  • Provide help in a crisis which may include temporary heating, fuel vouchers, supermarket vouchers, heated blankets, etc.

  • Assist with understanding your energy use, bills, tariffs and switching options.

  • Give you practical support in finding solutions for fuel debt.

  • Discuss energy efficiency advice tailored to your home and your household needs on a room-by-room basis to assist with trying to reduce usage.

  • Support you to apply for grants and access funding for insulation measures and replacement heating systems.
