The Young Combined Authority (YCA) gives young people the chance to have their say on key policies and issues for the region. Members can: Inform and influence regional policies and decisions which will shape the future of the West Midlands. Share views at regular gatherings, participate in WMCA Board meetings and be part of events bringing together a diverse range of voices. Connect with a wide and diverse community of young people across the West Midlands who want to make a positive difference for their region. Focuses around influencing policy such as education, environment, transport etc.
Violence Reduction Partnership (VRP). This project is aimed at young people who would like to improve their communities and have experiences to share about: the police, youth justice service, crime, violence and social issues. You will: Meet with other young people, share your thoughts, opinions and own experiences in a safe and confidential environment, join regional and local group meetings, help with events, help services make important decisions, have your voice heard, speak up for yourself and others.
The main incentives for young people on both projects are:
- get paid for your time
- free food on sessions
- fun trips and a residential
- get your travel covered
- personal development
- sharing your opinions
- making positive change
- supplement CV's and job applications
Members will be representative of communities across the region, offering diversity within gender, ethnicity, age and including those who have additional needs and/or disabilities.
