Stourbridge Fencing Club

  • is a friendly, informal club, with some members who train and compete at open competitions and other national and international events and other purely 'social' fencers.

  • is a 3 weapon club, where members can fence one or more of the 3 weapons of this Olympic sport - foil, epée or sabre.

  • Has highly qualified and very experienced coaches (with DBS, insurance, etc. backing)

  • has a junior group for 8*-12*year olds and a senior group for 13+ to .. very olds :) *(approximate ages of acceptance and moving up)

  • offers free tasters in the junior group at any time

  • offers tasters in the senior group as convenient and frequent beginners' courses.

Contact in advance is required before a first attendance, because it is a requirement that all fencers are members of the National Governing Body (NGB), British Fencing (BF) or of another NGB recognised by the IOC. Initial BF membership is FREE for the first 90 days. So there is no additional cost to try the sport. We also require new members to complete the club registration form, so that we have all the necessary information to fulfil our duty of care. Visitors who do just turn up will be allowed to fence on proof of BF membership and completion of a visitor registration form.

Cost Information:

Basic fees are 8-12 year olds £5.50, 13-18 year olds £6.50**, adults £8.50/session. There are payment options that reduce the basic fee. ** Those in full time education and in financial hardship may be offered the £6.50 rate on application to the committee. There is NO charge to beginners for the use of club equipment. Free taster sessions are given to newcomers to the junior group, seniors may be offered a taster, for a fee, if convenient. Beginners' course fees for the senior group vary according to the duration and any other factors. The next course will probably be in early January 2026.
