Keeping Well

Organiser:

Janet Ferris

Job Title:

Move it or Lose it FABS instructor

An exercise to music class designed to cover the four main pillars of senior fitness - Flexibility, Aerobic, Balance and Strength (FABS).

  • Flexibility - Improve your range of movements and reduce stiffness

  • Aerobic - low impact exercises to improve stamina and coordination

  • Balance - better balance to help reduce the risk of falls

  • Strength - strengthen muscles which leads to better joint stability and posture

Exercises can be done either seated, standing, or with chair support. We offer gentle, light-hearted exercises aimed at the 60+ age group with the aim of improving general health and wellbeing and hopefully turning back then ‘ageing clock’.

The training programme was developed with the much respected Centre for Musculoskeletal Ageing Research at the University of Birmingham. For more information see website.
