Listening Books is a registered UK charity providing an audiobook lending service for anyone whose illness, mental health condition, disability or learning difficulty makes it more challenging to read print or hold a book. The audiobook collection contains over 9,500 professionally recorded titles for all ages and interests, which members can stream via the website or download through the free Libby app.
Members can also listen to thousands of newspapers and magazines via PressReader as part of membership.
Membership costs just £25 a year, and is completely free to those eligible for the service who would find this fee a barrier to joining.

Audiobooks can make reading more accessible for students with SEND and SEMH needs, such as dyslexia, autism, ADHD and anxiety, for example. Listening Books' collection contains over 350 audiobooks for children and young people, including titles supporting the national curriculum from Key Stage One up to A-Level.
They also have a growing wellbeing section focused on supporting young people's mental health and self esteem. Membership is open to individuals from £20 a year, and to schools from £100 a year. Free memberships are also available to anyone eligible to join Listening Books who would find these fees unaffordable.

To be eligible for Listening Books membership, you must live in the UK and have an illness, mental health condition, disability or learning difficulty that makes it more difficult for you to read or hold a book.
To be eligible for free Listening Books membership, you must meet the above criteria AND declare that you would find our usual membership fees of £25 per year a barrier to joining.
