Friends of Wollescote Park (FOWP) is a lively and friendly group of volunteers. We are local people who care passionately about Wollescote Park (also known as Stevens Park or Lye Park), and there is no membership fee to join. We also have a Friends of Wollescote Park Facebook page, where you can keep up to date with our activities and events.
We undertake projects that help protect the park as a precious green space. We care about the park’s wildlife and work to support the park as a welcoming place for exercise, leisure and relaxation for everyone. We believe our park should be an inclusive space for all.
Throughout the summer, we regularly open the Sensory Garden Community Pop-up Café, usually on Friday mornings, serving delicious homemade cakes and hot drinks.
Join us on Tuesday mornings
We meet every Tuesday morning from 9.30am to 12.00pm in the Sensory Garden, adjacent to the tennis courts. Our sessions include gardening, painting and repairing, socialising and litter picking.
Tools are provided, and volunteers are also given a Friends of Wollescote Park T-shirt.
Community Events
As well as our regular meetups, FOWP organises a range of community events throughout the year, including “Bark in the Park”, our family-friendly dog show; Easter scavenger hunts; plant sales; sponsored walks, Classic Car Show and our fabulous Christmas “Meet Santa” event.
At Christmas, children have the opportunity to meet Santa and receive a gift from him in the historic Wollescote Hall, beside the beautiful inglenook fireplace.

If you’d like to become involved with Friends of Wollescote Park, please contact us. Alternatively, you are very welcome to drop in at one of our sessions or attend an open meeting.
Our monthly open meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 6.30pm, when we discuss matters relating to Wollescote Park and our activities as a volunteer group.
Meetings are generally held in the Sons of Rest Room at Wollescote Hall.
We are always happy to welcome new volunteers, whether you have lots of gardening experience or simply want to meet people, get involved in your local community and help make a difference in the park.

Friends of Wollescote Park commissioned Ellie Nicholls Graphic Designer to design the group logo in 2025.
The logo depicts the Friends of Wollescote Park volunteers working together to protect Wollescote Park as a place of natural beauty and historic importance to the local community. The colours include: green and brown representing nature and red representing the volunteers. The logo can also be viewed as a "happy face", which symbolises the smiles of the community.
