Bliss exists to give every baby born premature or sick in the UK the best chance of survival and quality of life. We champion their right to receive the best care by supporting families, campaigning for change and supporting professionals, and enabling life-changing research. We give parents of premature and sick babies somewhere to turn to for information and support.
We offer the following support services that families can access:
Email support service:
Families of babies who are born premature or sick can get in touch with our support team directly by emailing hello@bliss.org.uk. This is a self-referral service mainly accessed by parents who are either on a neonatal unit or have had a neonatal experience and would like some further support. We aim to respond to these emails within 3 working days, although usually it’s much quicker than that, and act as a supportive outlet for parents providing signposting to services that may be helpful.
Online Bliss Champion Service:
This is a service where families can access support over Zoom with a fully trained volunteer Bliss Champion. Bliss Champions offer emotional support and practical information to parents who have a baby on a neonatal unit, or who have recently been discharged. Many parents have shared that they have found it helpful to talk through how they are feeling with someone, and it can help them feel less isolated when they get home. They can arrange an appointment with a Bliss Champion by sending an email to hello@bliss.org.uk and we will set this up for them.
Online peer support:
Parents and families can talk to each other and share their experiences by joining our Bliss – Support group for parents of babies born premature and sick which is a private Facebook group. This is a great way to connect online with other parents of premature and sick babies, who share their stories and support each other through difficult times. We have a great group of parents from all over the UK in the group that are really supportive of each other throughout their neonatal journeys.
Bliss social media:
By following Bliss on social media, families can also have access to lots of information and support. We have Instagram Q&A’s which are saved in the highlights reel (on subjects such as RSV, mental health support, coming home from a neonatal unit with your baby, starting school) We also have lots more in the pipeline.
Information and Support Hub:
We have an easy-to-navigate personalised support tool which can be accessed at support.bliss.org.uk.
