Childrens Service and DB Leisure will be supporting the health and wellbeing of Looked After children and Care Leavers (from birth to 25 years) in the borough, by offering the following activities free.

Appropriate activities will be determined dependant on age and ability. Such activities include:

  •  Unlimited public swimming, including the leisure pool at Crystal Leisure Centre
  • Unlimited gym use (includes a free gym induction)
  • Unlimited use of the Wellness suite (power assisted equipment)
  • Unlimited fitness classes
  • Unlimited use of the running track at The Dell Stadium at selected times
  • Badminton, squash, racket ball and table tennis
  • Seven-day advance telephone and online leisure bookings for fitness classes, badminton, squash, racketball and five-a-side
  • Unlimited sauna access at Duncan Edwards Leisure Centre.
  • Unlimited access to Adventure Planet Play (under 11s) at Halesowen and Duncan Edwards & Soft Play Suite at Crystal
  • Free lessons such as swimming, gymnastics, trampolining and climbing.

 These benefits only apply to the looked after child or care leaver and not any carer or parent.

 Process for joining

  •  Individuals need to visit one of the leisure centres to activate their membership
  • Visit one of the centres and at reception, state they have come to activate their membership. They should already be on Gladstone and should have a M8888 Concession Flag (green) in their subscription list to identify them as eligible.
  • They will need to confirm name, date of birth and postcode.
  • Once found on our system, the receptionist will sell an LAC membership (no fee), take the individual image and issue a membership fob.
  • There will be no requirement to show any proof of eligibility or complete an application form

 Gym - 12yrs+ will need a gym induction (free) and pay for a Data Key - A carer or parent must be present during an induction for juniors (aged 12 to 15 years)

NB If the individual does not appear on our database or does not have the concession flag, then they will not be added to Gladstone until their eligibility can be confirmed with the Looked After Children Section
