About us
Dudley Council's Autism Outreach Service is now part of a new Communication, Interaction, Physical and Sensory Advisory Service.
The Autism support offer supports pupils with a diagnosis of autism, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Asperger Syndrome in mainstream schools as well as to families in the home.
We work in collaboration with young people, their families, professionals and schools to deliver training, specialist educational assessments, support and advice to meet the diverse needs of the child/young person.

What do we offer?
· Work in partnership with families and settings offering information, advice and support regarding the diverse needs of children/young people with a diagnosis.
· Provide information, advice, support and training to school and other professionals.
· Provide the cygnet course to parents of children with a diagnosis.
· Provide bespoke autism awareness sessions to the child/young person with a diagnosis, their peers and siblings.
· Provide specialist assessments for children/young people with a diagnosis.
· Advise families and settings on appropriate strategies and produce resources to support identified difficulties.
· Targeted teaching with individual children/young people or small groups.
· Support key transitions for those with a diagnosis.
· Liaise with other professionals in Social Care, Health, Speech and Language Therapists and Educational Psychologists.
· Attend and contribute to statutory assessment, annual reviews, Early Help/Child in Need/Child Protection.
Who do we see?
The Autism Outreach Service supports children and young people from 4 – 16 who attend a Dudley mainstream school and have a diagnosis of autism, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Asperger Syndrome.
Where do we see your child?
Support is offered in school and advice in the home.
How can I make a referral?
All referrals must be on a completed referral form and accompanied by parental consent and written confirmation of diagnosis.
Referrals can be made by parents/carers, schools, CAMHS, ASD clinic, health professionals, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Educational Psychologists, SENDIASS and other LEA support services.
What happens next?
On receipt of referral form and written confirmation of diagnosis, school will be contacted in order for us to start the initial assessment process. Parents will be contacted in due course so that a home visit can be arranged.
